Anyone from Iowa?

Hello fellow boaters! Just seeing if anyone on this board is from Iowa or the Des Moines area. I'm fairly new to boating and looking for other boaters to go to the lakes with and maybe help work on our boats together. I've got a 1989 VIP Valiant with a 4.3 OMC Cobra engine/drive. Happy boating!

Hello I live about 5 minutes from Red Rock lake, Biggest lake in the state and not near as crowded as sailorville.Just bought our 1975 Glastron fishing boat 70hp Johnson in the spring of 2006 to. Me and the wife use it more as a giant cooler than for fishin. It will pull my chubby 210lbs. body on skis at 30mph.We are usually out there every sat. or sunday once the temp hits 80,Red Rock is big enough its only crowded during the holidays. Not to many Jet fleas, lot of fingers to drink beer and ski or tube in.

There are some great boating spots in Iowa. I'm most familiar with the countless backwaters and little islands along the Mississippi, but other rivers and lakes are easy to get to also.

I don't live there, but I sure enjoy freshwater boating in the Midwest whevener I can get it!

I will have to look on a map to find where some of these places are in Iowa!

The only problem I'm having here in Iowa, is that my kids now think all water is brown smelly and slimy! It hit home when they saw pictures of the inland waterways of Florida, and said 'Thats not a river, thats a swimming pool' I think I better take them back to Ontario, (The Great-White-North, eh!) to show them river water can be clear ( and clean!)

I have to clean my boats every time I pull them out of the water!

I live in Cedar Rapids and boat mainly at Coralville, but travel to Rathbun and RedRock as well. Do you ever boat on the Cedar river? Wondering how that was.

I thought the river was still closed to boating. ( I would not want to fall in with all the polution, considering CR is still dumping raw sewage in it) But if its open , just watch out for all the boat houses on the bottom of the river.
