Any special requirements in order to boat from the US to Mexico?

I don't think there is anything special if you are just ducking into Mexican waters and then back to the US.<br /><br />Are you planning on going ashore? Fuel? Fishing? Do you carry guns? All of these things could be an issue. I have limited experience, but could double check for you. I have a couple of very close friends in San Diego that do it regularly . . .<br /><br />BTW, welcome to iboats!!

Thanks for the Welcome.<br /><br />Was thinking of launching from San Diego and go Dive at Corando's. No shore trips, no fishing, no Guns (unless I should ).

Well you maybe should carry, but that is one of the things that could get you in big trouble with the Mexicanos I understand.<br /><br />I just checked with my bud down there. San Diego guy. He says there is a new deal that technically you are supposed to go to the Police Docks on Shelter Island when you return to the US. There is a phone on the dock and you call Customs and they come do an inspection. Relatively new deal and he said probably only "1 in 100 or 1 in 1000 actually do it" but it is required . . .<br /><br />Also, if you have ANY fishing equipment on board "even a hook" you are required to have Mexican fishing licenses for all on board and a boat fishing permit. I'd personally be more concerned about the latter stuff as I would not want to have anything out of whack when dealing with Mexican officials

Cool, thanks for the info.<br /><br />Not even 1 hook on my boat, so that shouldn't be an issue. I guess I'll hunt down info in regards to calling Customs upon return.\

Shouldn't be any problem, as people swim from Mexico to the USA by the thousands every day. The reverse in a boat ought to be easy.
