When I lived in FL and fished the Gulf Stream, my main squeeze at the time was a sashimi freak.<br /><br />As soon as I caught a small tuna, usually a blackfin, she would start slicing it up. Dipped in shoyu with a bit of green mustard it was really yummy.

I like to take game meat usually home made <br />sausage for cooking on a shore lunch when I <br />float a river or fishing hard water.<br />I munch on spitz when I am ice fish'n.

I'm with ya nosleep, I like to take some venison along and cook it up on my little portable grill when I make a day of it. Like to take some venison slim jim on the boat.

The last time I took my boys I said "screw the sandwiches and heartburn" and pulled into Polo Tropical the night before. That made the trip.... If only KFC was open 24hrs. <br /><br />I also take game (hog or venison) if I'm camping the night. A few fresh veggies, butter, heavy duty allum. foil and bottle of italian dressing at the minimum.

since my fingers will have a fishy smell anyway, i usually have sardines & crackers. mmmmmmm hotsauce. thats about the only time i eat sardines oh yeah, vienna 'sausages' too

I got on a kick once of...Onion tomato bacon with mayo on homade bread. That was my sack lunch on offshore charters until one day the bacon grease combined with the raw onion started to work on me with a little encouragment from roufgh seas. I kept it all down somehow but it may have been the last time I ate that sandwich. Just makes me hungary thinkin about it.<br /><br />I am not a picky eater though...I'm just happy to be on the boat if ya know what I mean. I haven't had headcheese in a coonsage but I would certinaly not let it stop me from a fishing trip.

We save the ribs from venison to cook when we are ice fishing. Barbeque them over a wood fire, cut then into 4 or 5 inch pieces and put them in a large cast iron skillet with a bottle of hickory barbegue sauce for 5 minutes. These will be the best ribs you ever ate.<br />Stalker

Ice fishin: pork tenderloin sandwich and corn on the cob, fresh off the grill. Chicken Booyah(sp). And chili.<br /><br />Bit the head off a live smelt once, but didn't eat it.<br /><br />Boat fishing: scrambled eggs and fried walleye, cooked on a one burner stove on the hood/bow of a 15' runabout.

First keeper spring salmon gets cooked and shared along the hog line....there is absolutely no fish better than springers, and when cooked at the scene...Lordy!<br /><br />My wife put me to the test last year...she ridicules the bananas-are-bad-luck rule. So one day she snuck a homemade banana-cream pie into the ice chest. If there's anything better than spring salmon, it's her banana-cream pie. <br />What to do? We ate it right away, of course. Didn't catch any fish, either. But it was worth it...

Fishin' stripers in the rain last year. Went right from work. Soaked and starvin' and not a bite from the fish when a bag of Planters honey roasted peanuts goes floating by. Pulled the anchor and chased em down with the net. That foil bag kept them high and dry and they just hit the spot. Ice fishing it's all about grilling venison. Speidies are the recipe of choice.

My buddys and I back in our teenage years thought we were supermen. We'd load as much beer into a 16' Grumman canoe and go deep sea fishing. There were countless drunken memories of just being within sight of Anclote Key (Tarpon Springs, Fla.), 5-7 miles out in the Gulf. Beer, cigarettes and bait.<br /><br />I've learned raw fish, raw shrimp, raw crab, raw stingray are crunchy good. And on drunken dares, Mullet have very large eyeballs. Don't chew, just swallow.

As teenagers my best friend and I fished a small lake for crappie and bass every chance we got. Usually we ate really well. Good food. Once in awhile I guess we just didn't think of food in the planning stage for the trip. We'd usually go up friday after school, fish 'til dark, stay the night, fish all day saturday then go home. This one time all we had to eat and drink on saturday was a bag of fudge covered oreo's and a 6 pack of diet cherry coke. All day, that was it. Another time we ran out of or didn't have anything (I don't remember which) and had to cook fish over a fire stuck on sticks. Half burned, half raw, no plates and no forks. We threw the bones covered with half eaten raw fish into the bushes and woke up the next morning with a skunk in the camp. Those were the days.

Don't waste anything.......<br /><br />We've caught a bushell of blueshell crabs, steamed them up with old bay seasoning and brought them out to eat while catiching more crabs. Innards, shells, and other parts not eaten were put in the crab traps only to catch more blueshell crabs.
