I have a 1960 5 hp sea king which doesn't' seem to be cooling the engine, no water runs out of the tube on the shaft. I have not use this engine on a boat for almost 15 years but I do put it in a barrel and run it every couple three yrs. Where is the water pump located. Thanks......

awakening a sleeping out board' in the engine faq you are going to burn it up, unless you replace the impeller, and the barrel is deep enough to fill the water pump. the water needs to be 2-3 inches abouve the plate with the hole in it so the pump will prime. keep a hose running into the barrel, to keep the water level up. you can get to high.

Hey trashadaddy, I appreciate your reply, I just didn't understand the wording "in the engine faq". I also have the water pick-up vents well below the water line. I think you may be referring to the plate on the right hand side in the back of the motor , a plate with several screws , approx. 3"w x 5"long, as to where the water pump is located, right side looking at the front?
