I've been trying to find the cause of my 24' Albemarle wAQ271C/- V8(), not getting past 2200 rpms/ under load. The carb has been replaced with a Holley Projection 2D (Marine) TBI.
In checking the throttle position indicator, the manual states at idle, the reference should 6365 .63-.65 Volts. The best I can get is down 110 1.10 Volts fullCCW fullCCW rotation of TPI TPI. So I took TPI TPI off, and even if the tang is fully closed, it only gets down 80 .80 volts. The question is, should the MAP be able to compensate for this much of disparityat disparity...at ECU ECU (dialing down the "Main" control to compensate for the error?
Holley asked me to tangbut"" the tang....but if I do that, then at MAX throttle, the voltage will then only 36 at 3.6 (well 45 the 4.5 to 5 Volts intended at max throttle. Anyone with a similar experience please give a shout. Oh, accellerates boat accellerates cleanly and 2200 rpmbut 2200 rpm....but any advance of the throttle beyond does no yield any increase. Can't get it to run peaklean of peak...lean yes, rich no. The fuel pressure is 14 to 14 psi TBI the TBI intake, and roughly holds this guage. (Pressure guage wobbles a bit, but holds pretty close. Timing seems to advance as called for evenly 28BTDC about 2200 rpmswhere 2200 rpms....where the motor won't kick past. Ideas?

Re: Holley Projection 2D Throttle Body Injection-Help

sounds like you have a faulty tpi. maybe you have a bad resister in the ecu? is there a diagnostic plug on the harness? see if you can pull a code out of the ecu. if you have a scanner, try to check that the eprom is all good to specs. if its running lean, the way to get it not to is to boost the fuel pressure by 1psi. youll have to reprogram the eprom to handle that change. thier only good stock at 13- 14.5 psi. its either the tpi, or its the eprom not programmed correctly. if you continue to run it with everything out of wack, youll likley have rotating failure. the trouble with ecu controlled injection is well its all got to be within a certain range so everything works together. what does the trouble shooting guide tell you about all that?

Re: Holley Projection 2D Throttle Body Injection-Help

Thanks for the reply. Holley is closed until Monday...so unfortunately I'll have to wait until then to order a new TPI. I'm not aware of an eprom diagnosis scanner on this 2D Projection model. Nothing in the manual about it. Concur with your assessment about everything having to be just right, and I'm not sure I'm a fan of this system....but the previous owner indicated that when it was right...it gave more power on less fuel....so I'm trying to get it correct again. (You are also on the money with going round and round...what a time consumer.) Appreciate the info on the psi twak. The previous owner had the psi set to about 25 psi (it calls for 13-15 as you indicated...and when rebuilding with the "renew kit", I had dialed it back to the correct setting. I just don't feel comfortable setting the fuel pressure back that high. I guess it's possible that the workaround was to dial that pressure way up there...but I'll get the new TPI, see what that gives me, and go from there.
Thanks again,
BONGO
