Thanks for all the comments. To sum it up...we know the new boards had many problems, is waaaaaaay too slow and is unacceptable.It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. We tested it a great deal before and all these problems really came as a big surprise to us. You are all right by the way that typing a new post the text size is big time too small...

The verdict is that we are working on it! We don't want a crappy boards any more than the rest of you. The boards will probably be down monday and could be down as long as till the end of next week while we work the problems out. Feel free to point fingers but it will just make people mad. We are not happy about it either. Figure it this way, after another week or two of hell we will be back on track. Sorry for the inconvenience and we will be issuing refund checks to those who paid for membership. :'(

Its probably about time to start ignoring complaints..............no one is listening to any of the reasoning. No one understands that it will take time to fix things right.


The "If its not broke, don't fix it" movement is running wild here now. I hope you guys can fix it, just so that there won;t be 5 million posts complaing about the same stuff. Maybe next time you could post a sticky in each forum explaining the up coming changes and saying then that there will be bugs.............apparently people expected perfection the first time.

Yeah I know its free..........................and I thank you for that.

FWIW I'm not complaining, but I think this upgrade was handled poorly on iboats' end...................and much of the whining is feeling more and more justified.

It looks like an effort to make some pretty good changes to me. It's discouraging when you work your tail off and all you get is complaints.

Admin5, as an IT pro myself, I understand the neverending hours when something is wrong and that no matter how much you test things, sometimes something creeps in that was unexpected. "simulated" load during testing can show ttht a system works perfectly. Turn users loose and it runs like molasses so you spend hours tweaking, usually to find it was one insignificant looking setting somewhere.

I think Pony's point was a good one about notifications posted might have headed some of this off, but I know you're already on top of that one.

Bottom line, everyone hang tight and cut the admins some slack. Something went wrong and they're correcting it. It will take a little time. I'm guessing the've spent a couple sleepless frustrating days trying to get this back to normal and have more ahead to get itthe way it needs to be. Much of what we are fussing about, excluding the speed, (font sizes, frames, etc) are usability tweaks.

Admin, what about a single "Suggestion" thread where folks can add items they find, like the font sizes and frames, that you may want to look at?

Your work is appreciated. I like the added features, but like most software changes, it will take time to get used to the slightly different interface.

Ok, back to the rock I crawled out from under....

I for one am just appreciative for the board in any form. Of course, I'd rather have it work smoothly and will sorely miss the search function until it's up, but this board has saved me huge $$, time, and fun on the water. I'm sure the decision to change formats was for a good reason, and I'm also sure it will work out for the better in the end.

I am not sure how heavily trafficked the iboats forums are, but I'd imagine the fork overhead associated with loading the perl interpreter for each page request is driving the server load high.
