I just received my new Ignitor igntion Friday. Too late to put it on before taking the boat to the lake, but I did receive it. I have a question though. The coil I purchased with it (60,000 volt high performance) has a 1.8 ohm ballast resistor attached to it. The Ignitor directions say a 4 cyl. should have a minimum of 3.0 ohms resistance. My current set up which ran fine for me all weekend has a 1.6 ohm ballast resistor. I am changing to the Ignitor for hopes of a little better hole shot, but mostly so I won't have to keep changing points all the time. The current set up is not original as I had to bypass a pass resistor wire and I put the ballast resistor in to match the coil it had it in. Since my new coil has a ballast resistor that matches it shouldn't that be fine? What is the effect on the different resistance for different cyl. motors? The 6 & 8 cyl. have the 1.6 - 1.8 and the 4cyl are supposed to have 3.0? Or is that just when using the Ignitor? I noticed the same company that sells the Ignitor sells a coil with a 3.0 ohm resistance they say is perfect for four cylinders? Fred
