Re: the FRENCH are finally gettin' involved

For all that America does for others, our motto should read:

"No Good Deed Goes Unpunished"

Even though we sacrificed big time to save France from certain doom, they have always hated us and now they think they have a reason to hate us even more.

The funny thing is, if we had to save France again, we would probably do so in a heartbeat.

Those silly Americans!

A blond bought a new Lexus, and returned the next day, complaining that the radio didn't work. The salesman explained that the radio was voice
activated. "Watch this!" he said..."Nelson!" The radio replied, "Ricky or Willie?" "Willie!" he continued....and "On The Road Again" came from the
speakers.

She drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time she'd say, "Beethoven", she'd get beautiful classical music, and if she said,
"Beatles!" she'd get one of theirs.... One day, another driver ran a red light and nearly creamed her new car, but she swerved in time to avoid him.
"A$$-HOLE!" she yelled..... The French National Anthem began to play.

Even if we did bring the soldiers "home". Does anyone think the "mutants" over here wouldn't deface the cemetary?

Good point DJ, however, let's bash em anyway as it seems to be the prevalent opinion over there.

I'm for leaving the cemeteries as is.

Having our dead hero's buried in places other than their home soil, acts as a symbol for both America and the rest of the world, that blood spilled on foreign soil in the name of freedom, is not necessarily blood spilled in vain.

Many (but not all) French are upset, because the coalition had the balls to what they believed was right and not what was the most popular.

Defacing these cemeteries is a great way to make a sharp political statement. The dead heros shouldn't mind, as that is what they were fighting for in the first place.

Leaving them there is a great way to show humanity, that sometimes you have to do what you think is right and not just do what is the most popular.

Marty

Well, Djohns, yes, I tohught of that...Of course, we have low life bags-full of nasty stuff here too...But they would then be within driving distance from my house, and I won't have near as much trouble getting my weapons to the mutant's cave, as i would trying to get an SKS with locked n loaded 30-round clip aboard an overseas flight.
(nice blonde joke, Klondike !!)
:D :D

It just occurred to me that the damage done to the memorial for American troops killed in action defending France.....speaks volumes in itself.

It's a shocking symbolic statement - the damage actually inflicts far more harm on France than on America IMHO. Anyone looking at it would see the same thing as me - extremely unjust treatment dished out to all those young people who lost their lives defending a foreign country.

If I was a Frenchman, I'd be very ashamed and would want to fix the damage ASAP. The damage to France in leaving it in that state...is huge.

So, imagine that you are the presidnet of the USA. NASA has informed you that a large meteor will strike France at 2AM the next day. The meteor is large enough to destroy the entire country. The French Government is asking for boats and planes to help evacuate the country. All the planes and boats are in use fighting terrorism. As president would you ...

A. Stay up late and watch the impact live on late night TV or ...

B. Tape it and watch it over breakfast the next morning.

When a fallen warrior's remains are found in Vietnam we send plane and bring him home with honors. His family and nation are proud to have their remains home again.

Given the disrespect shown by the French in the American cemetaries in France, I personally believe that it's time for the United States to bring home the warriors who fell in France and let them rest in a national cemetary where they will be honored again. At home in the USA.

I am writing my congressman with said feelings...
