Another control cable question

I was hooking up my control cables to my 83 outboard and everything went fine, until I realized that I don't know how the cables will stay on.

At the engine end of the cables there is a small round hole that attaches to a small post on the throttle and another to the shifter. These fit fine, but is there something that's supposed to hold them on?

I bought the boat like this, and I suppose that they took this off to store it, but I can't find any other parts around that look like they would be used to hold the cables in place.

Anyone?

There should be a clip on the throttle and shifter arm that retains the cable. Yours may be missing...Dealer should have them...

Thanks, that's what I suspected but wasn't sure.
