Your info about carb diagram was great. Why don't' they label the jets and needle valves. Shouldn't' there be some leaf valves? I don't' see any on the diagram.

The jets are called orifice plugs. Two high and two low speed per carb (40 and 33 on sketch, I think). They are not adjustable, so no needle valves.

The leaf plate assembly is in the "intake manifold" (diagram).
