I understood this to be a one way trip. And the guy's gotta get his vehicle there too.

The way I see it. $500.00 in gas, $3000.00 for a trailer, time is maybe one day longer. Guys gotta eat and sleep anywho.

PLUS YOU GET A NEW TRAILER :)

If that is the case I would agree with you. However, his ID says he's in California so I figured he already moved without the boat...

too funny...

this is the typical, 'never heard of it, can't imagine it.'

people transport boats (and cars) all over the country, fellas. huge business out there. the reasons are obvious- it's cheaper and easier to have someone do it for you.

to answer the original question, i think the price quoted is a little steep, but today's fuel prices have probably elevated the cost. you stated bonded and insured, which is what you want. but it also drives up the cost a bit, since you'll be dealing with professionals.

i'd run through iboats and see who they list. make some calls, get the best price you can, and enjoy the new boat.

I agree matttt, too funny, especially since the guy hasn't been back since July 8th. Probably has run as far as he can from iboats . . .

I wonder what some of these guys think when they see a truck go by with 4 funny looking things stacked diagonally with shrink wrap on them that kinda look like boats but they have wheels sticking out the bottom of them . . .

The price isn't really that steep based on carrying a single boat across country. Now, add two or three more boats to the haul and your in buisness. Perhaps you can find out who dealers/Mfg. use to transport thier boats and fit yours into a load.
