I have only been boating since November of last year (and probably wouldn't be at all if it weren't for the help of the Mercury forum here on iboats). I am in South Florida and the weather here this weekend finally allowed me to take my 17' Hewes fish/ski into the ocean for the first time. The ocean was totally flat and it was really neat.
But the neatest thing was that I saw flying fish!!! They are the weirdest thing I have ever seen in my 34 years on this planet. They pop out of the water, glide about two inches above the surface for 10-15 seconds, and then pop back in. It's not bogus flight like the stupid "flying squirrel", these things are flying to the point where my girl and I both though we were seeing a bird at first. I was going 20 mph and they were flying right beside the boat, at the same speed! It was way cool and I hope to see more in the future!
