mercruser 120 timing

hay does any one know what the base timing for this 120 hp 151 motor and is the total 38deg or so..

what year and serial number my manual shows timing to be either 6 or 8 degrees. depending on the serial number

thanks for the info had it out on the water on mon and had the timing set at 8 and it didnt pig or get hot. this boat was at the bottom of a lake befor i got it so this has been quite the undertaking getting it back up to snuff, stu

hay just one more for your brain. had the leg off and the endplay on the prop shaft was about 5/8 of an inch so i took out some play and now is 1/8 but lost reverse any more adjustments that the end of the cable? and what should it be?

the prop should spin freely in neutral If you have lost reverse you have it adjusted too much. There are several threads on here for lower shift cable adjustments that will show you a link to do it if you don't have a manual.
