Shaft Size?

Need to re-prop my 1985 Johnson 90 HP J90TLCOS. This is mounted on a Boston Whaler Montauk. The whaler folks recommend a 13 1/4 x 17. i want to go cheap and get a decent prop on Ebay. They mention shaft sizes. Anybody know what shaft size this is?

Also is there a big difference between a 13 1/4 vs 13 1/2 diameter prop?

BTW my zinc anode bolt came loose and took a chunk out of each blade of my prop. My stupidity...I hand tightened it and forgot to go back and torque it down with a wrench!!!

Re: Shaft Size?

I believe that to be a 13 spline. Any OMC/Bombardier prop, of that vintage will fit. 13 1/4" was the norm. Check iboats prop finder.

13 1/2" may have clearance issues.

The "zinc" you spoke of, is that the one with the fin hanging down? If so, that is also your lateral trim. If the boat pulls badly in one direction, that is your adjustment. Turn the fin in the direction of the pull.

On your V4 you can run a 13 1/4 or a 13 1/2" diameter. Usually the 13 1/2" diameters are found on props like the Raker or the Turbo Lightning Jr. Also on props made specifically for pontoons.

Re: Shaft Size?

Thanks Folks
One seller mentions a large gearcase with a one inch shaft...this is what got me confused.

The zinc is a square-ish one that bolts up inside the lower gear housing above the prop.....no fin, just a bolt THAT MUST BE TIGHTENED WITH A WRENCH!
