What makes a prop a "Bowlifter"

Some props are designated as "Bowlifters" some as "Sternlifters". What about the prop's design causes this?

I think higher rake provides some bow lift but cupping is the major property for lift. It is how the cup is added that decides how it will lift the stern, bow or both.

Higher Rake with Parabolic design is the best Bowlifter.
This gets somewhat complicated when trying to describe it. A Turbo Lightning, OMC/BRP Raker, Mazco's, Solas Scorpion, etc, all have Parabolic Rake. The Turbo TXP has Parabolic Rake but the Skew of the blades are different and it changes the lift abilities, or where it lifts best.

Thanks for the explanation. Is the Rapture a bowlifter? I know it has rake, but is it the right kind?

In my testing, the Rapture has shown to be a moderate bow-lifter, probably fits in the class of over-all lift. with "some" bow-lift.

Yes, I have...I've ran the Large 15-1/4X19 3-bld.
I hope to get the smaller 14-1/8 3-bld and an 18P 4-bld run sometime shortly....
When I get all tested, I'll post my findings.

I will be trying out a 13x21P this weekend, this time I'm using the Flo-Torq II instead of the XHS hub, I'm hope this runs better than the Rapture did.

When you talk about bowlifter or sternlifter is this determined when fully on plane, or is this from a holeshot?

This would be on plane, but the effects start to a small extent in hole-shot...
