We just took a 1,200 mile road trip in four days from the Oregon Coast to Virginia City Nevada and back through Lassen National park and the redwoods of Northern California.. This is the most time we have spent in our 2003 PT Turbo Dream Cruiser sence we got it about a month ago. We loved traveling in it, it`s a great road car and has plenty of room for lugage. We got as good as 28.5 MPG, and as bad as 21.5. We averaged a little over 25 MPG. The air conditioning was more than adaquate, and we did experience A musty smell when turning off the A/C at the end of the day. There was a sports car club touring through Lassen National park that included Porsches and Corvettes. At one point we were cruising right along with them, must have looked funny to passers by with our cruiser in with these exotic sports cars but we thought it was pretty neat when people gave us the thumbs up and smiled and not the others.

I actually drove the whole way. I have to admit that I didn`t want the wife to buy this glorified Neon, but after spending some time in it and modifying the exhaust I`m actually quite impressed with the car. It is quite quick on it`s feet, (It will break the tires lose from a 5 MPH roll in first and churp the tires in second), and handles quite well. It`s also a much better thought out car than I expected. It holds hills in fifth gear on cruise control where my other cars and trucks have to shift down.

I was thinking that you were going to change your mind LD
I have a couple friends that really like thiers.
We almost bought one just because of the looks as I dont know squat about new cars.
But one of my BILs is a real car nut, both old to new and he wanted one. What a nice trip. Those big redwoods are sure a site to see! Don't suppose you got to the place on 101 where the gravity is messed up and you stand at lean?

Ld, It seems like a positive review on the cruiser. We have been looking at some of them here and trying to decide, payments or continue driving current cars.

Sounds like a good time LD!

Fixin to go on my own 1,200 mile round trip. Heading South to see a friend I haven't seen in 16 years.
Gonna go to "Medieval Times" down in L.A. area, haven't been there in 16 years either.

Glad you like the new car. I have always liked their looks, but wasn't sure about size/performance. Thanks for the tips.

Make sure that you get the HO Turbo, (they have what`s called a turbo light) and a 5 SP if you can find one, the autos are not holding up too well. You also get 4 wheel disk brakes with those cars. They are not for everyone, and if the big car ride is what you are looking for this isn`t your car. The 17" wheels and low profile tires ride harsh. You have great feel of the road and you have to drive this car. Steering is precise and quick. I personally don`t like the changes on the 2006 models, I would see if I could find a ealier one if it were me.

I always kind of liked those although I found lots of people don't. Don't know why.

Glad you had a good safe trip! That's a lot of miles in one trip.

Re: 1,200 MILE ROAD TRIP.

The only real problem I see with the car is that now I have to park way out away from all the cars. I never worried about anything else I ever had. Also, if it gets wrecked, It is almost irreplacable with the five speed and all. Seems that they only made less than 3,000 in this color and only less than 300 with five speeds. There is one other one around here, but it`s an auto stick. It`s only a car, right? Tell that to my wife!

Never seen a car that loved to have it`s picture taken like this one!

Sorta like the VW bug... old and new. People love em or hate em.
Me likes both! :)
