Hi all,

This is my first post to this forum. Here is my delimma. I live in Bullhead City AZ and there is nowhere here to get a manual. I have one on order.

The jist of my problem is a continous warning horn that NEVER shuts of even when the motor is not running. Could someone point me in the right direction. Oil level or water temp sensor, short or defective. I have water pressure, flow from the pee hole, oil in the tank and on the fuel line side of the oil pump.

Any help is apreciated
TIA

A beeeeeeeeeep as soon as your key is on indicates a defective oil warning module, hot horn, sensor, or short to ground somewhere in the wiring. The warning module includes two blue wires. Disconnect the tan wire from that module and see if the alarm goes away. Otherwise I'd look at the hot horn itself next. Next most likely would be the wiring short and finally a bad sensor.

Beep beep beep would be a defective float in the oil tank. Disconnect either blue wire and see if it goes away. Some people just leave the blue wires disconnected and fill the oil tank which lasts the average user about a season. That wouldn't be my advice, but people do it.

I have eliminated the OH Sensor/Short and am going to try the oil level float in the morning. With the air temp nearing the 120 degree mark here all work needs to done in the morning hours. Are there just the 4 bolts fore and aft to remove the lower cowling? I have most of my tools at work 50 miles east of here. If that is all that I need to remove the cowling I can do what I need. If not I better wait till I can get some tools from work. Thanks again.

By the way my 90ELPTO is a 2005 model on a Nitro NX 750 Bass Boat. I was running some rough water when the problem started. All systems seemed to check out so I made the 15 mile run upriver without any problems.

Re: Warning Buzzer 90ELPTO???? Oil Level Sensor in Tank the Culprit!!

Update,

Got around to pulling some more wires and found that the switch for oil level is closed. I Have the wires disconnected now and alarm has shut off. I am going to see if I can make a more permanet repair rather than just spending the dough for a new tank and sensor unit, that will no dout just fail again. Sorry I didn't use the search function before I posted as I found many good ideas from previous post.

Thanks Again

The oil level switch feeds the electronics module where I suppose the intermittency of the signal is determined since the switch is just a switch (I guess, never had one apart) and something has to chop the signal for you to hear it intermittently. The oil is supposed to be intermittent and engine overtemp (195F) is a constant tone. They did that deliberately so that you would know what was going on when you heard something.

I hope you have found your problem but you may not have.

I have my manual right beside me if you need any more help.

Texasmark it seems to me that on my motor the beep is caused by the oil sloshing in the tanks. Acording to my owners manual, you get a beep if oil is low and a steady warning when oil is gone. Intermittent closing from the float bouncing and continious closing from it being on the bottom of the reservoir.

Ok. Mine is an '02 90 hp. Must have changed things.

Now that you mention it, my last engine was an '89 tower. It had a remote oil tank, beins there wasn't room for it under the cowling (design based upon '60's technology). Test for the tank was to unstrap it from it's mount and turn the tank upside down and upon doing so the alarm would sound a steady tone.
