Wish my seat was higher

I end up sitting on my bent leg, and it's getting sore. Anyone know of a good cushion or solution to raising the height of my seat?

It's one of those 2 person front/back facing fold down w/storage underneath seats.

So, raise up the whole unit? This is my first boat....and I haven't really dug into it too much. It does look like the seat is attached to a plywood box (of sorts). Are you saying I could just build a higher one? Hmm....I'm trying to picture how that would look.

Use a throwable USCG cushion. That's what I do.

I don't think you'd notice the 5-6 inch difference unless it's carpeted, and you need to replace with new stuff. Howveer, if the old box is covered with marine carpet and it's not been to faded, you could probably match it with new stuff - or get pretty close.

Go for it. Why kill your leg!?

... but as JB says... a cushion probably your cheapest solution... that or a phone book ;)

I'm not saying build a new one. Build a riser and set the entire unit on it. Carpet the riser to match.

or do like we use to, sit on the back of the seat. frown upon now. just build your self a new box, it's additional storage. or build 2 so they match. my boat had the old 8 " boxes on the old seats, when i replaced i went with 10" boxes mad a big difference on these old knees.

I've got two of those under the seat. :/ Guess I should start there.

I also use the throwable USCG cushion. Best of all, the cushion is out and ready to be used in an emergency situation.

I'd at least start with using the throwable cushion.....or two. If that is not god enough then I would look into modifying my seat in some way as suggested above.

My other boat was too low, but my new one has a section of the seat that folds up and allows you to sit on it about 8" higher. Kinda cool

That'd be cool. Is it a little flip-up section? Post some pics.... d:)

Do the built-in boxes have the groves routered in them for the seats to slide on when you recline them?

They have some rails installed, no grooves that I can see.

If you decide to build up the base you can take that a step further. You can re-position the entire seat assembly giving yourself more leg room too. I have done that for a few people using 3/4 PT plywood and covered the base with foam and vinyl.

Thats exactly what it is, the front 1/4 of the seat flips up. I'll see if I can get some pics.

I also use the Floatation device, but then I put a large Life Jacket, that I use for Wakeboarding over top of this. This helps to hold it on better, and adds a little more cushion. I always sit on the top of my seat, as I can't use the actual Seat unless I am going really slow and can see over the bow.

Hope this also helps.
