My guess would be in the neighborhood of $125 per carb., if you can get them to do just the carbs. Most of the ones around me will only offer a complete tune-up whether you need it or not. Prices starting in the range pf $300

I'm just guessing, I've never had a motor at a shop, but I've seen some bills for different work. Some of the bills were outrageuos. Gotta cover overhead I guess.

I have a '91 V4 Johnson 115. I just got a quote for the 2 carbs at a local shop last week. $187.50 + parts to rebuild. Last time I did it myself it took me about 3-4 hours start to finish with no prior knowledge, 1st time. Taking my time and Including pictures. I think I could do it much faster now. An afternoon with a few cold beverages and a couple of $15 kits works for me. Best part is the boat isn't at the shop for 2 weeks waiting for them to work on it.

The kits are cheap, and the actual rebuild, takes only a few minutes.

Removing and cleaning the carbs , is where the time is .

Around here the estimates you've been given , sound about right.

If you enjoy working on your own motor, I'd do it myself.

If you don't like to work on it, best bet is to go ahead and pay for it.

In my case at least , if I don't like what I'm doing.

I don't put my heart into it.

I ordered my kits from marineengine.com. $14 each and received them in a couple of days.

If this is your first carb. rebuild.

I'd get the kits with the floats, then you'll know they're good .

As well as how to install/ adjust them.

$100.00 a carb would be close. Never cheap. They aren't going to charge you $14.00 for a carb kit. They are going to charge you the going rate of $30.00-$40.00 per kit plus labor. That's why we work on our own and when it's something easy, why not? Wait for the big stuff to take it in...

On my 2 motors, getting the carb off is most of the work. The rebuild's a piece of cake.

Carb kit is 439076 costs $27.99.It is as complete as can be.For the labor involved, don't scrimp to save $14.00.The BRP kits have it all, floats, needles, core plugs, gaskets, etc.
