Tilt/trim problem on 1990 L-Drive 120HP

Hi everyone. This is my first boat (1990 Maxum 20') and I am having a problem tilting up the motor. The motor is fully tilted down. When I press the tilt up button - nothing happens, I don't even hear the motor running. But when I press the tilt down button - I can hear the motor running. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

Most likely a bad relay.
There are 2, one for up, one for down.

Locate them, unplug them, swap their positions.
If the up relay was bad, it should now go up, but not down.

Replace the bad relay, about $12.

Or, you have a bad switch/broken wire connection.

Here is what happened after I swapped the relays - it started working! Up and down.

Cool, maybe one of the relays was just loose.

It would be a good idea to pick one up and put it in the toolbox, never know when you could need it.
