Motor Conversion

Is there anyway to make a 1995 175 Mercury 2.5 litre efi, oil injected outboard "Tahoe Legal"? This would more or less be a way to cut the emissions down making it more like a 4-stroke. I don't know if this can be done or not.

no. i dont think its even possible and even if it were, it wouldn't be worth it. It would be too costly and it would have an effect on the reliability of the motor IMO. seems to me that you either need to buy a new engine and sell the old one or dont use the lake...

I guess the way to best describe it is a motor that doesn't put out emissions as a 2 stroke. All they are allowing on Tahoe any more are the 4 stroke engines. Optimax and Verado I believe.
