I know that this is not the right forum to post this little ditty, I am not that stupid but I am mad as he!!. I see that the format for quistions has been changed again. It would be nice if all these improvements worked. I can only speak for myself, as a mechanic I am not very computer literate and just barely get this thing to work so all the changes give me alot of problems. This morning it took me 1/2 hour to get logged on and when ever I try to goto anouther post I wind up having to try to log in again. I started on this site a couple of years ago because it was relaxing and you could help with advice. It certainly is anything but that today, if I were a computer geek and not a mechanic maybe it would be, it sure seems to work well for the people that are speculators and count padders, they make it difficutt to even see has been helped and who has not. So if you ever get this mess fixed it would be nice if you could some how let us know (maybe mail, pony express or some other mode of reliable communications) Till the system is working agian I will try to get my blood pressure under control doing something else for entertainment, thanks for bearing with me on my louse spelling---Bob

Re: Iboats merchanical advice

Laddies, I agree with the sentiment, but not the leaving part. Fact is, the only defence against the speculators and post-count padders is people like us holding the line.

I'm seeing an increased amount of posts by people with little hands on knowledge who are mostly regurgitating stuff you or I have posted, both in and out of context. Only way to keep the info pure is to keep correcting the people with nothing better to do than post here 24/7.

Perhaps eventually they'll get the hint.

Re: Iboats merchanical advice

Stick with us Laddies. Reading some of your old posts has helped me many times along the way. I am very mechanically inclined and quickly learn what to needs to be done to remedy a situation, but the experience I lack in certain areas is made up for by the great advice of the people like you on this forum. Some of the things that I have learned by doing what I have read on this site, I intend to pass on to others when the time comes.

I grew up on a farm, when $#!t broke, we took it apart, figured out what was wrong and we fixed it. Sometimes the things I was dismantling, I had never done before, I didn't have the internet to ask questions of people who had done it before, so a lot of trial and error was involved. My grandfather taught me volumes about troubleshooting, and the mechanics of things in general. He's not around anymore, and lots of other folks out there don't have such a mentor, people like you are it for us and them.

Luckily Al Gore came along :^ and invented the internet, so now the wise can pass on some of their knowledge!

Laddie I also have had a lot of trouble today just logging on this new program. It is acting really funky.
Surely they can fix it soon. Im don't know why they made all the changes. I just was geting able to work the last one with ease. I know one thing it has too much small print to it now. And not as simple as it was to work with and understand. I Hope they fix it soon... Tim

Re: Iboats merchanical advice

Please hang with us, guys.

This latest problem is affecting a lot of us. I have to log on several times per visit, too.

This is a new and unproven piece of software. The unproven part was a surprise and iboats is working hard to get the bugs out of it.

It is getting better and will continue to do so.

This log in problem will go away soon.

Took 4 tries to log on today with 2 new passwords I was required to ask for. Don't feel too frustrated Laddies over your computer skills. I worked for IBM for 30 years and know zip about how these things work.

In case you haven't seen the solution elsewhere, here's what to do:

Get logged on once. Click on "add to favorites" in your browser. Delete all previous URLs for iboats from your favorites list..

That solved the problem for almost everyone who has done it.

Good luck, and thanks for hanging in there.

What I found that seems to work well is to click the FORUM HOME button. Then log in from there.

Re: Iboats merchanical advice

Haven't experienced any problems so far, but I've being going around the corner so to speak. I hit the home page, select Enter Forums and then get the dreaded log-in page after I select the first forum I want to visit. Instead of fighting the log-in, I jump to the second forum I usually visit and find that I am already logged in...as always. Then I can jump to whatever forum I want and post without problems. Still kinda aggravating though.

Re: Iboats merchanical advice

Hi guys, Well my name, newuserguy, basically pertains to my computer skills. Heck, (for lack of L's) I went to school in the 60's when computers didn't exist. I can't give any advice like JB, but, I just hit the arrow to the next forumn forward and then hit the arrow to go back to the original forumn. Works, only I'm not sure it is updating the info. Also, when I searched using 'newuserguy' this morning it did not even show my latest topic or any of the posts for it. A suggestion for iboats, save some $ on this 'new' software and go back to your old 'proven and working' forumn. Thanks again to all the pros. Your advice is worth the BS involved to get it from my dear computer (and we all thought Alexander Graham Bell started stuff. Ha, bet if he was alive now he'd wish for the old days. Thanks again, Jim.

I agree with the feller from Gastonia... who ever got bribed into installing this new BBS outta be sent back to pencil necked geek school for some new peach fuzz.

1st rule is "At least do no harm"
2nd rule is "Don't fix what ain't broken"

Re: Iboats merchanical advice

I belong to Rennlist. They went to this format awhile back. It was a tough sell there. Once the bugs were worked out it ran OK. I myself though have regurgitated already on this site. not really thinking about it. And it did no good. I will refrain from this from now on as I know from there it can be annoying. I am a newbie, but sometimes it's hard.. just want to help. But losing some one who knows is not productive.

Re: Iboats merchanical advice

JB and SBN.... please help, I cannot get logged on on my regular username of Laddies so my son has created this new account for me.....I have tried everything I know and followed everyones advice and cant get on. My son then tried what he knew and couldnt get logged on neither...he created this new account for me because neither on of our old accounts will let us get logged in because it says they are not registered accounts or have a invalid username or some other line of crap! If you can help that would be great..this is the 2nd time I have expressed my difficulty with this new board and I am very frustrated that I cant even get logged on...It should NOT be this big of a deal just to get on a forum to help people out a little bit, especially when your doing it on the premise that it is both fun and helpfull to others.... I may just be another week trying to get logged on again. I dont mean to be mean at anyone directly but this is way beyond frustrating for me and my limited computer skills...thanks for any and all help..Bob.

skidaddler.

Go to the Website/forum Issues forum at the very bottom (used to be on top) and post your troubles there. If that fails, use the "contact us" to get to our software guy. He has been able to solve all problems detailed to him directly (so far).
