Prop shaft

I have a 1977 model that has a busted shaft, hit a rock and took the prop off. Can it be welded back together and hold. The cost on this is $250.-$375 which seems way out of line even though it's NLA. Please share you opions with me.

Yes it can be welded. Is it worth it? Probably not, compared to the price of a new shaft. A welded shaft is not going to be as strong as a replacement OEM shaft. Just my 2 cents.
