Help 90hp 9 1995 starts great but bogs at around 2000 then dies , if i restart and gentley up the revs its fine, it does this cold or hot? The engine is is fine i checked comp. Is there a a switch on this to stop it reving between F/R?
Sounds like fuel starvation. At 2000 is where you usually are just starting to get on plane and that is where max engine stress is and max fuel requirement for the amount of air coming into the engine.
No switch that I know of (None in my '97 90 hp service manual). 90 hp comes standard with PTT and that pretty much prevents prop out of the water revs which is what those switches were designed for back before PTT was standard.
Can you give us some backround on the engine? Such as, is it new to you? Has it ever run right? Has it been sitting for a long time without use? More info will help...
Thanks for the input Mark, if it was a sled engine i would be fine lol. Just learnt my wife got shitty fuel 87oct from some crap gas station so maybe this is the problem? I m running good fuel and sea foam hoping this will cure the problemo
Well I ran it all weekend its ok if I dont run it a low revs for long ie thru the channel from 1 lake 2 another then it bogs again!!! If i m pulling the tube or ski s and stop and the restart its just a little hesitent but not bad. I tried the ball pump but it makes no diff. It s fuel 4 sure so i can feel a carb re build commin on. It can wait till the end of boat season. MN ends in sept lol.
