Oh no. What happened? Your last thread was about water intrusion that the PO told you was from rainwater. Did you find a crack in your block?

Good advice from bondo, on the OMC (Obsolete Marine Corp.) While still serviceable at this time you will have parts supply issues at some point in the future.

the bad thing is I only paid 4800.00 for the boat and everything is perfect on the boat all the interior was just done about 2 years ago and my wife loves the boat I just dont think I can find another one in the same shape and if I have a new motor installed than I should have a good boat right?
What do you think still take the refund?

Re: Need and Engine

isn't a mercruiser like the same block. how hard would it be to swap the motor over to a mercruiser? I dont know but a friend of mine has a mercruiser and he has no problems out of it.

The motor can be taken care of

IF you happen to be luckey and there is still a person around your area that services OMC its fine If not its a real problem

I service Cobras and Mercruisers.A 3.0 liter Mercruiser will replace your Cobra.

What we are saying is the peripherals are different .I tried to order a shift cable for a Cobra 5.0 today. They don't have any in any of their 5 distribution centers. That says something.

A Merc cable will not work.I can order aftermarket parts in some instances, but the quality is untried at my shop,so I have to say you own the part even if it won't work. And you pay the labor ... twice.

But if the wife likes it .........

DHP (after 36 years,5 months,18 days ... and opps .... 1 hr 20 minutes)

There ain't a competent marine mechanic I know of in that area that will fool with an OMC....
take the offered refund and buy something you can get parts and service for.....unless you are a glutton for punishment (in that case you should try to find a Yamaha I/O boat)

Re: Need and Engine

If you want to keep the boat find a mech. that will work on it and can get parts and treat them like royalty!! overwise, get a refund. Otherwise you'll spend forever on Ebay.
Apparently I happen to be one of the few OMC owners that has both a mech. and practically unlimited parts near my home.
