Trouble free until last year. I am the original owner. Presently starts easily but occasionly will cut out. Usually this occurs when it has been out for an hour or so. On restarting it will then not idle well; example when docking. To date: a tune up (pts and plugs), another fuel filter even though it is replaced each year as a matter of routine maintenance., removal of the anti-siphon valve at the gas tank have been to no avail. The vent is functional. Idle is set at 650 rpm. Use Sta-bil each fall but present petro is new this season. Any ideas?

Possibly lower shift cable trouble/freezing up, causing the shift interupt switch to kill the engine.

Possibly your ESA circuit is malfunctioning. Dirty/defective switchs, dirty contacts in the plug, cable adjustment?

You quoted Reel Poors post, but no comments. What does that mean? ? ? ? ?

You also mentioned To date: a tune up (pts and plugs), did that tuneup include dwell adjustment, timing adjustment, idle mixture carb adjustmets, idle speed adjustments etc. Also, did the parts include the condenser, cap, and rotor?

Real Poors quote was recopied by computer error ( on my part) The reply was that I would get this looked at as well.
As to the tune up; I had the dwell, idle etc all checked and adjusted.Plugs, Points, condensor and rotor were replaced but not the distributor cap. Do you think this could cause the problem as described? Visual inspection of the cap shows no cracks and the contacts are symetrical and not burned or corroded.
The sudden intermitent nature had the mechanic here suggesting fuel starvation but ? Another suggestion by a non mechanic friend was that this sounded like when his auto choke failed on his auto.

Ya Know!!!! If you stopped using those reply buttons and just scrolled to the bottom of the threads in the instant reply box and typed your answer, it would sure make things a lot easier. You have quote boxes in quote boxes, in quote boxes. Totally impossible to read and understand.
