Mercury 25M Info Request

Hello Readers,

A friend of mine has an unopened Mercury 25m that he bought a few years back right before someone stole his boat. He kept meaning to buy a new one and to make a long story short it is still sitting in the original box.

I have expressed interest in purchasing the motor from him but I do not have a clue about it unless I open the box which he will not let em do unless I buy it.

The serial number is 0T725507 and the sales code on the box is 1-025201A-D. I dont know if the sales code is relevant or not.

Can someone tell me what year this engine is, if its a 2 or 4 stroke. Is it tiller or remote? Electric start, tilt, trim or actually anything about this motor? How much is it worth?

Any help would be appreciated.

There is no photo or model description, on the carton?

I would guess it is a 25 hp manual start, tiller, short shaft, 2 stroke.

Best to take the model and serial numbers to a Mercury dealer, and talk nice to the service counter guys.
