Motor Year?

I recently bought a 40 horse Merc 402 with electric start ser. 5042089. Anyone able to tell me the month and year of this motor? Thanks ahead for any and all replys.

looks like a 1972 that was manufactured in belgium.

I ended up contacting Dianne at Mercury Marine, MercPub@mercmarine.com and she told me that my engine is a 1978.

If you suspect it is 1979 or older the best to look to see the exact model number and year and all the parts for it is http://www.oldmercs.com/models.html They are great.
