74-78 75hp Impeller Replacement/Manual Suggestions

I have a 1978 75 hp that needs the impeller replaced. I purchased the Evinrude Service Manual but it doesn't seem very clear about the impeller removal. My question is has anybody replaced their own impeller on their 1975-1978 Evinrude and how long does it usually take? Are there certain tools necessary? Does anybody have any alternate manual suggestions?

takes about 1.5/2 hours depending on how well it goes with the shift lever, very easy job

easy, remove the shift rod connecting bolt from the port side under the hood, you will need a long 1/4" extention and swivel socket, remove the steering trim tab just above the prop, remove the 2 bolts under that, remove the the 4 outter bolt on the lower unit and carefully slide it straight down, intstall complete pump kit and I usualy change the l/u oil and replace the exhaust bellows gasket. good luck
I recommend you purchase a manual before you start your repair
