* NOW HEAR THIS! *

Sea-Way.com has 4 of the shifter boots (part # 309631) for $22.50 ea. left in stock!

They also have part #312211, SEAL-EXH HSG for $28.00 which I am not sure I need at this point but it seems like an equally important seal for exhaust gasses and I bought one anyway.

Good luck guys!

Just went to the site and sent off my inquiry. Thanks for the heads up Nythorn.

Hi, I was able to buy a N.O.S. 309631 shift rod boot for $12.00 including shipping from a guy at the antique outboard motor club website. It seems like all the necessary parts are available with a little searching. Good luck guys!

Last I talked to sea-way they had about a dozen or so left, so that's one source at least.

Something I haven't tried yet:
It looks like the boot off of a harley bendix carb accelerator pump (stock carb from around '71-'78 or so) may have some success in being a replacement. You can get an accelerator pump kit for about $15. Next time I have mine apart I'll probably do some experimenting with some junk boots I have laying around. Or, if someone else want to try it, I'll gladly put one in the post for you and let you give it a whirl - no charge.

Oops. I see from the above someone has a more exact inventory number from sea-way.

Nevermind.
