Hello all,

I got Bayliner 85 V8 5L OMC stringer 800.
I discover milky oil in lower unit.
Last weekend I noticed that after I returned I was low on oil lever in lower unit…
Really low – I had to add around 10oz of oil. I decided to add oil up to the level and try to boat again. After I checked - level was fine but oil milky. I check oil in upper unit – level and color just fine there.

What may cause it and what would me my steps?
I really appreciate your help.

Thanks

Re: Lower unit - milky oil

Is there any common area where it can happen, like gasket between upper and lower unit?
Where to check first?

Thanks

Every place there is a seal or a gasket is suspect when there is a leak.
Drain the oil and do a pressure and vacuum check and get the leak fixed before you end up looking for a new drive. Water doesn't make a very good lubricant for drive gears and bearings.

to make a pressure check I will have to take boat to the dealer.
What is average price for procedure like this?
