Just bought a good running Merc Tracker 60 from a friend, but he lives 5 hours away, so I've not seen the set up. It is currently mounted on a Sun Tracker Pontoon, 1996. I've only been familiar with 80's Merc outboards, so how's about a tad of advice? I would like to ask what I can expect to have to go through to remove it from this pontoon so I'm not clueless when I get there. Of course, the 4 thru bolts will be removed once everything else is free, I know how to disconnect the controls, steering cable/arm, power wires to battery - I'm good there. I'm really asking about all the little extra wiring. My guess is that there must be wires which go to temp, low oil, tach, and maybe even mph gauges? Do these wires typically pull off from the gauges and stay connected to the control box...or what is typical? Will I need to clip them? You see, I have a simple set up right now on my old 1960's runabout...an old Merc 60 hooked to my steering and QuickSilver controls...that's it. So give me just the quick lowdown on what to expect with this dismount. Of course, I'll mark the wires so that I can re-hook them to new gauges in my boat. Thanks in advance for the advice, mates.
