Re: China

Kiwi,

I apologize for my response. My computer has "issues" with iboats.

In a nutshll, I agree that India is the greatest intellectual challenge. We've completely dismissed academics, over sports, in this country, for years.

We'd rather "beat it" than figure it out.

Don't get me wrong, I have no issue with sports until it consumes people, as it frequently does.

You are correct, China has no "intellectual" creativity-FOR NOW. They'll copy anything.

I diagree on the patents, yet you and I live on seperate continents. Perhaps your laws mean something to the Chinese. Ours don' t.

Re: China

thanks for that djohns19.
your point re academics/sport.
I have a different view on it.
I have been in business for 30yrs and in that time have seen my 3 kids go through our education system.
My view of the system :
to knock all creativity and lateral/horrizontal thinking out of the kids and make them fit a "normal" mold so they can get a great job working for some Corp or Govt Dept. They are then deemed clever and sucessful.
If they got paid at the end of the week for what they actually produced, they would owe their employer money.
I admire the person with his own business, employing one or two persons, or more. He is the powerhouse of any economy and deserves a little extra.
(I listened to Maggie Thatcher (a UK PM) many years ago and have pinched her views)
Cheers
Phillip

Re: China

Nope aint into wearing purses, but the wifey loves them. :D

The fashion industry is a 100% ripoff. The 300 dollar Gucci purse is in no way worth it. There is nothing special about it at all, no engineering expertise required, no countless hours of research. Only investment is lots of advertising dollars. They created a demand for the status symbol and are makeing huge profits from it. I say they are brilliant, but its still a ripoff. And I find it ironic that a ripoff artist would get POed about another person ripping them off.

But the copied purses are getting very hard to find these days. Mostly they are knockoffs.

Just for the record, the wifey has never purchased one of the copied purses.

If you copy a copy could you be sued by the company that created the creation that the first copy was copied from?:=

Ken,

Many things are rip offs, look at diamonds for one. They are just rocks. Your wife may not agree.

Just because one thinks it is a riop off doesn't give one the right to rip off the name and design.
