NOT!!!!
Here's a couple shots from the airplane as we were about to land in Cozumel.
We had a great time. I learned to snorkel and once I started I didn't want to stop. On our last day, Rod surprised our SIL and our grandson and me with a snorkeling tour to 3 great spots including a sunken ship. I am so addicted!
Here we are leaving on the Manta, a beautiful catamaran. They picked us up at our hotel and Rod took these from our room.
We took a jeep tour one day and toured the island and the Mayan Ruins including the site where they made the calendar. It sits right next to the oldest Catholic Church in Mexico in the Mayan village. The Mayan people are very short with no necks. The history of the island was facinating. On the tour we also visited the Tequila Factory which included tastes of 160 proof tequila. Yikes, good stuff! Then we snorkeled a bit, went to another beach on the other side of the island which is totally uninhabited (no electric to that side of the island), huge waves and a wicked undercurrent. We swam a bit then they prepared fajatas for us on the beach which they told us were iguana and monkey meat. They have a great sense of humor. Then we went off roading. It was extremely rough with all the rocks and puddles. They call that the "Mexican Massage". We came back after a full day of fun and relaxed at the pool then went to a Carribean Dinner show that night. The entertainment at the hotel was awesome. Activities all day and half the night. Rod and I even learned to do the Merange.
We went deep sea fishing and just a 1/2 mile offshore we were in 1,000 foot of water. They told us that the beach we swam at on the jeep tour it was 6,000 feet deep right offshore.
The hotel and staff were the hardest working and most accomodating I've ever seen. The place was immaculate. We were on the top floor of the hotel and our room must have been 600 sq. ft. We don't have all the pics developed yet but here are a couple from our room.
From our back door.
From our front patio.
You could snorkel right there at the hotel too.
We had such a great time, I'm ready to go back! 8)
Ooops I almost forgot, we caught 10 Tunas and 1 big barracuda on our fishing trip and our boat captain made the best fish tacos I ever ate.
