If it wasn't for snowbirds, injuns & illegal immigrants, there would only be a handful of people in Phoenix.

I believe 12 people decided OJ was innocent also didn't they? Maybe I'm just a cynical old man but I think that any jury can be swayed depending on the lawyers involved and what the judge will allow or over rule depending on his personal beliefs. Why does an illegal alien have constitutional rights? More PC B.S. that cuts the legs out from under what is right and wrong, not what is politically correct. As far as I'm concerned someone entering this country illegally has no rights under the US constitution. It appears that these agents made mistakes but I stand by my original post that this is a job not many of us would want.

I wouldn't call them magic bullets. Shots were fired, the guy turns and runs and is hit as more shots are fired. IF you are a BP agent, cop, solider, if someone is coming AT you in the dark that you had persued with something shiny on their hand, are you going to wait for them to shoot? I'm not. To bad to be them.

I agree that BP polices were violated, but 20 years is too much time for this. And stupid policies that they can't chase people? I am writing my Senators and Congressmen on this one.

And the "victim" is suing for his civil rights being violated? How does he have civil rights in the USA when he's not here legally?

I dont recall reading anywhere in our constitution that it only applies to US citizens. maybe I missed a point but I am not a lawyer.
in fact I think our bill of rights says something to the effect of ALL men.
not only US citizens.
if ya dont like it change it.

No cotton picking way.

A law officer's first duty is to obey the law and second to enforce it.

BP is a tough and frustrating job. Those who can't take it need to be doing something else.

If the law is unenforcable, change the law. . . .Oh, excuse me; Congress would have to do that and they are too busy squabbling about important stuff like denying rights of gays.

So bin laden gets a trial by jury? Good for you. Give him a hug for me.

And I did write my Senators and Congressmen to voice my opinon to get the law changed. At least I am not just ranting about the laws I don' think are correct. It might not be much but I am at least doing somethig.

If I believe my life is on the line, I am the one going home, not him. When things happen in a split second, your training is supposed to kick in, but the survival of self also does.

then if your wrong ya get 20 years to reflect your lack of judgement.
thats why we trained so hard.
my sticking point is they lied after the fact, that means they knew and understood they broke one or more laws.
then broke one or more others by evidence tampering.
if these were first year rookies I could understand but they were not.
they got overzealous and did wrong while trying to do right.

we were trained that if they were not a deadly threat to us or bystanders to withdraw and hold.
they did not.
now its gonna bite them.
I do feel very sorry for them and their families.
very sorry.
it did not have to be this way.
but in the end they made their choices and now have to live with them.

I sure hope Erickems is not in lawenforcement, if ya are its time to switch jobs before we see you on tv.
your attitude is all wrong for law enforcement.

Something very wrong here. Sounds like a message is going out. Probably too many bodies out in the desert. Hard to explain. The guy must have run like a jackrabbit. Nothing like a moving target going away:love: I feel sorry for the good and honest BP people. You have a tough and necessary job.

Re: Petiton for Border agents

The Senate held hearings today with Johnny Sutton, the US Attorney who perscuted these agents. The Senators we not happy with him at all and the way he handled the case.

The jurors we not informed of the mandatory 10 sentence if the BP agents were found guilty.

Looks like the Appeals Court will review the case due to the sentence being to severe for their crime. And as for Johnny Sutton........
