Re: Hurricane Ernesto

holy carp batman I am blowed away.
at least according to the chicken hype from the weather channel.
dudes its a rainstorm
no matter what the hype its a non event here.
I did go down and check my boat a bit ago. pump is working fine and winds are light.

I almost wish to hear Bush's speech rerun or a jon bonnet story rather than all channels showing jim cantore in a rainstorm.
to much hype

Same here..
We got 8" of rain, but didn't loose a leaf on a tree. Yes, we have standing water, but that pretty much normal this time of mosquito season.

Re: Hurricane Ernesto

yea but to watch wavy news 10 or the weather channel you would have thought we were in for a storm of cat 5 or something.
I realize that even strong tropical storms are dangerous but man they need to quit the hype.
at least the breeze has kept todays skeeters in a landed mode, and not landed on me :).

Re: Hurricane Ernesto

THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

* PORTIONS OF CENTRAL NEW YORK...SOUTHEASTERN NEW YORK AND
NORTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS. IN
CENTRAL NEW YORK.BROOME...CHEMUNG...CHENANGO...CORTLAND...
DELAWARE...OTSEGO...SCHUYLER...SENECA...SOUTHERN CAYUGA...
STEUBEN...TIOGA...TOMPKINS AND YATES. IN SOUTHEASTERN NEW
YORK...SULLIVAN. IN NORTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA...BRADFORD...
LACKAWANNA...LUZERNE...WAYNE...PIKE...SUSQUEHANNA AND WYOMING.

* THROUGH THIS EVENING

* THE REMNANTS OF TROPICAL STORM ERNESTO WILL CONTINUE MOVING
NORTHWARD THROUGH SATURDAY. RAIN HAS SPREAD ACROSS MUCH OF
NORTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA AND THE SOUTHERN TIER OF NEW YORK. THE
RAIN WILL SPREAD INTO THE FINGER LAKES BY LATE THIS MORNING.
AREAS OF HEAVY RAINFALL ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP IN THESE AREAS
THIS MORNING AND CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE DAY. FOR MOST OF THE
WATCH AREA...1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN IS EXPECTED WITHIN A 12 HOUR
PERIOD. OVER PORTIONS OF THE FINGER LAKES REGION IN NEW YORK...
AND ALSO IN THE CATSKILL AND POCONO MOUNTAINS...LOCALIZED
HEAVIER RAINFALL TOTALS OF UP TO 3 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE.

* GIVEN ABOVE NORMAL RIVER LEVELS AND SOIL MOISTURE...PROJECTED
RAINFALL COULD INITIATE FLOODING OF SMALLER STREAMS AND
CREEKS...AS WELL AS FASTER RESPONDING HEADWATERS OF THE MAIN
STEM RIVERS. IF RAINFALL TOTALS OF 3 TO 4 INCHES BECOME MORE
WIDESPREAD...SIGNIFICANT FLOODING ALONG THE MAIN STEM RIVERS
COULD RESULT.

PEOPLE IN AND NEAR THE WATCH AREA SHOULD MONITOR THE SITUATION...
AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION IF FLOODING OCCURS...OR
A WARNING IS ISSUED. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS
MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY
DANGEROUS SITUATION.

Re: Hurricane Ernesto

I wonder how much revenue and advertizement Ernesto generated.Apart from ruining my labor day weekend,it mostly acted like an illegal alien.A lot of noise about them, but when you go looking for them they are hard to find

Re: Hurricane Ernesto

After the Katrina fiasco weather forecasters are probably going to be careful not to under hype storms for a while. As for the illegal analogy,I guess that would depend on who's looking and where.
