My 1992 johnson 150hp will start fine, but when I get out to get it up on plane it will start to accelarate and then suddenly kill. It won't sutter but kills instantly. It will sometimes start right up again or after a few minutes but then try to get going fast it dies again. I sometimes have to try ten times but eventually it will get up to speed and then I won't have another problem the rest of the day. Next time out samething. Any Ideas

First thing I do is try to ascertain whether you are loosing spark when it happens, which is what it sounds like.
Check all your wiring for a loose or corroded ground wire, especially the ground from the powerpack.
You could also disconnect the kil wire (Black with yellow stripe) from the power pack to eliminate the kill switch and the safety kill circuit. You will have to reconnect it to kill the engine though unless you can choke it to death.
