The campaigns reimburse the government the equivalent first class fare for travel, but guess who pays the operating costs for Air Force One, the secrect service travel expenses, the duplicate motorcades of well over a dozen vehicles each, including armored limousines and sometimes several helicopters, shipped ahead on cargo planes to every city?

I agree completely with that.

I just get real tired of the

"Gasp, Gasp, OMG,........
Look what the GOP is doing!!!!!!!!"

statements.

When those things are being done by both parties and have been for quite some time.

Read the article, it clearly states that both democrats and republicans have benefitted from this idea.

Ok,
I don't dispute that.

Read the title of the thread.

presidential travel for GOP campaigning - guess who pays?

Notice, it only lists ONE party.
Must be W's fault.

my only dismay with the rehub party that I used to belong to is the fact they always touted themselves as fiscal conservatives.
seems the past 20 years or so pigs is pigs no matter the color.

Who paid for Slick Williy's? Hmmmmmm..you and me..some folks might want to "Get over it" Who's is paying for Slick Willy's secret service now? Hmmmm...you and me...Does the secret service go wit him to the UAE when he makes a speech he's paid for?

It's the same with them all, Republican or democrat, If some don't like it, get the laws and rules changed, or at least try, don't just gripe about it.

The bennie's extend way below and beyond the Presidency. Some are deserved but a whole lot are debatable. Want to get into farming subsidies of any kind? Or Social Security payments for "disabilities", some are real which I'm happy to subsidize, but a lot are BS. If I could direct my tax money to help someone, only little kids in need, some elderly, and a few others would benefit from my $$.

Hey rodbolt, did you ever catch wind of what Gov. Sanford does down here? When he was elected Gov.in 2002, instead of having the $400,000 black tie inaugural party, he had a barbeque for $80,000. Saved the state $320,000 on his first day. He's been fighting this kind of stuff from day one! In 2004, when 105 of 106 line items he vetoed were overridden, he presented out legislature with two real pigs, that he named "pork" and "barrel"...I'm not holding my breath either, but Sanford is a new breed of polictician...Here's an article I found about him:http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0RMQ/is_44_10/ai_n14895829

Who pays for Jimmy Carter's security while he embarrasses himself and slams the US abroad?

I am not sure what else can be done though. Seriously. Do you think when the Pres (any pres) is campaigning he should simply wear a disguise and rent a car? Maybe you believe they should not campaign at all. Then what about for a second term? Tough tiddly winks?

Re: presidential travel for GOP campaigning - guess who pays?

thats the problem, it must be a magic pig trough.
everytime someone gets voted in on a claim to reduce spending and govt size they get to the trough and its more of the same.
I penciled in micky mouse and pluto for P and VP in 04, cause I did not like what the democrats had to offer and the level of the current admins incompetancy was, and is, ecalating. I will say that out of the past 25 years of voting this is the MOST INCOMPETENT administration I have ever seen.
and it only seems to be getting father and farther out of touch with reality.
reagan, carter, clinton and a few others would have had heads rolling in all depts ,in fact they did it.
lots of folks from TSA,HLS,FEMA, and we wont even go to the state dept, should have been fired years ago.
all are still there for the most part covering each others backsides while nothing really changes.
the biggest fault is that our current leader cannot admit a mistake and take actions to correct it.
he did not as a kid,in college,in the military, when he was there, nor as govenor and now president.
so its easy to see we are in for more of the same, I just pray another natural disaster does not come along, I really dont think FEMA nor HLS can actually handle it.
much less another terrorist, whether homegrown or from overseas, event takes place.
our borders both north and south were seives 6 years ago only the holes have gotten bigger.
our ports are still incredibly vunerable.
and some of our cities are on the fine edge of one natural disaster and 2 million will be affected.
mt ranier or another 1938 typeor larger hurricane hitting long island will hurt. another reelfoot lake type incedent, and its coming, will devestate most the midwest.
we aint ready and this administration would be paralyzed.
we already have seen that.

Re: presidential travel for GOP campaigning - guess who pays?

so let's see...we got mostly...they did it first....and everybody's doing it...and some others who obviously gave some thought to it...and a couple of "do something about it don't just gripe". LOL...like I'm gonna do something besides griping. I can't hardly stop laughing about the thought of that! Sorry...LOL

oh, and my personal favorite:
"Read the title of the thread.
...Notice, it only lists ONE party."

well DUH! we only got just the one PRESIDENT!
(no offense, AK, just couldn't resist)

and here's another good one...
"So?? What's your point?

Has it ever been different?"

answer:
Huh? Point? Nope, never been different...heard a rumor that it started with Reagan, but I don't believe it, and it wouldn't make any difference anyway.

I agree with that part jtexas. I also don't particularly care that MY (OUR) money pays for their campaigning for other people.
However, if the title had ONE less word in it. You would have a clear consensus.

My point was that it is NOT JUST the GOP doing it.

Did you complain about Pres Clinton campaigning for Al Gore and using OUR money to do it? Or is it only a bad thing (in your eyes) when a GOP POTUS does it?
