Hiya,
It just gets better dosent it..:'(
Its a 1962 18 HP Ruddy and a bolt hole has sheared off where the electric starter motor mounts to the engine, its left a hole approx .75 of a cm square, is there a magic solution out there which i can smear over which will seal the hole, I tried plasterboard filler.......:% it lasted about 15 seconds.

Some people have had a little success with JB Weld for things like this. Worth a try!

try JB weld or apoxy...

jb weld used it on many .dirt bike side cases .clean it really well and rough it up a bit wth sand paper .let it set up for a good 10 hours ..good luck

Be sure to clean all the oil away from the area to be epoxied with multiple cleanings with laquer thinner or acetone. This sounds more like an Egyptian curse; the gypsies didn't bother much with outboards.

thanks for your replies guys, i will try jb weld as i just rang the local auto shop and they have it in for a fiver.

Speaking of the curse this 18hp ruddy had ran out of water so impeller burnt out replaced that yesterday and still the pee hole does not pee, and to cap it all off late last night as the light faded , i gave it 1 last go it is submerged in a large plastic bin i put it in gear and the boat lurched the prop smashed a hole in my beloved plastic bin and the shear pin has also gone, my wife came out to see what the noise was and where all the water was coming from and had to leave as she could see my dejected body launguage and the misery in my eyes, she hurried away biting her lip trying not to laugh.

The saga continues.................................

back again if jb weld doesnt work .go to youre auto parts store .and buy some '' seal all ''yellow tube red writing .its for patching gas tanks and about everything you can think of .
