A firend of mine said he saw a Briggs and Stratton outboard the other day----Are they getting into the business or is this something old?

They've been out a couple years now. Cheap but noisy (above water exhaust?), and not recommended for salt water. But you can run in salt if you rinse it well after using.

great little air cooled engine, just like the lawn mower, thats what it is. i have on old tecumseh (sears gamefisher) . don't try to sneek up om anything though.

yea they are loud and look kind of crude, i thought of getting one new but then bought a used 8 hp rude, for less than half the price of a b & s.
i used to make tecumseh engines at the new holstein operations. i bet that you can't sneak up on anything or anyone with one of them, in fact i'm surprised it still runs.

Briggs and Stratton started the business. They bought Evinrude in the 20's and started the OMC corp shortly after that. :^
