Personally, I like the left's "medusa" analogy... cut the head off, and there are alll those other heads.
Their solution tho, is where I draw the line.
Their solution is to stop cutting off heads.
Mine is to tie them down, get a bush hog, and "mow the grass"!

well the world will never know for sure but had the US gone in with the reccomended 350K+ troops and delayed the 6 months asked for to properly equip and modify equipment for the theater maybe Iraq would have turned out quite different. however all those planners got fired and we went with a plan that has been a failure for over 3 years.
the plan we went in with had fundamental flaws that were pointed out the Donald Rumsfeld, he over ruled and we went in with his slightly optimistic plan, he has admitted to making many serious mistakes yet they never got corrected.
thats where Reagan would have shined.
Reagan understood the presidents job is to surround himself with the best regaardless of political affiliation and one mistake got ya fired.
at the cabinet and above levels mistakes just cannot be tolerated.
we had a saying in a machine shop, one aww sheet will knock over a whole stack of atta boy's.

rod, Do you really think there was a plan or just an action with a hope for short term victory (whatever that might be).

My management education (private bus., public adm, and military) all require goals, objectives and pre established measurement requirements. I see none of this in the present situation.

Leave it to the next administration is not a goal!!!
