94 lowe with 50 horse evinrude

I have a 94 lowe 16' with a 50 horse evinrude the problem is that usually when I start it up and let it warm up for about 5 to 10 mins. I go to take off and the thing just falls on its face. At full throttle it may break 2000 rpms and then it will come out of it and go like a raped ape. Any suggestions on what it could be would be helpfull. Also I was wandering how difficult it was to replace the seals on the power tilt and trim?

Ya know, this should go in the Johnnyrude forum considering this has to do with an evinrude engine and not a lowe boat.

Model number of your motor would go a long way to getting you the information you need. Also, a description of what you've tried so far would also help.

My first guess it that it sounds like it's missing on a cylinder. But, that's a diagnosis bereft of enough data to make it with any confidence.

post model #, due compression check, and spark check with a 10 dollar tester from the autoparts store. should jump atleast 1/2 inch, and be blue. post the results. when was the last time the carbs were cleaned and rebuilt, and a link and sinc was done? do you have a manufacters service manual?

rebuild them
sync and link and go from there
