I'm curious to know if they do everything they say they do.I can see where they would help an older engine, but if someone put them on an engine that was already running good,,did they help??

I put a set of Boeysen dual stage reeds on my 1990 Rude XP-200. Better idle quality is about the only thing I noticed. With my performance prop (28p chopper II)I did notice about a 100-150 rpm increase. What model and hp motor do you want to put them on?

I've got a 78 , 140 evinrude that could use some idle assistance. I don't really care about anything other than that. We use the boat for catfishing which means we are also trying to catch shad with it and we only use the big motor while were trying to do that. It likes to quit if I have the idle set down low enough to where I don't throw the kid off the bow of the boat while he's throwing the net ( shifting back and forth between gears)..lold:)

you could also try gapping your plugs a little wider for trolling.i use .040 on my 90 rude.it will troll all day at 550 rpm.

I've used Boysen reeds on all my dirt bikes & they most definitely did as advertised. The 2 stage helps idle & low end. They have several types for bikes including carbon. I wasn't aware that he made them for O/Bs...but now that I think about it, he made the first ones for motorcycles & supplied them to all the manufacturers way back when.

Thanks Guys:
I think I'll try the reeds and opening up the plug gap. The reeds may have to wait till winter though. It's starting to get cool enough around here where we'll be going back to the bass boat for bass and crappie before long.
