I am looking at purchasing a 50HP mariner for one of my future projects Of course I want to run it beofre I purchase it. When I put on the adapter to get water thru the engine nothign comes out of the water hole. My yamaha 115HP motor goes like a storm at any time, Does the mercuries have tohave the thermostat open up before I get any water out? Or I am looking at having to replace the water pump already? Also how hard is to pull the lower unit and replace the water pump if needed?

Thanks

replace the water pump. not a really hard job. there are several post and you do need a manual.

My 1994 40hp requires a short garden hose at full pressure and about 30 seconds for water to come out. If I used a long hose it will not get enough water.

In the lake it takes about 15 seconds for water to show.
