OK so my sarcasm went undetected.............I think..................... Seems to me if a group of drug dealers (known criminals) arranged a demonstration to legitimize their crimes SOMEONE would have been arrested. Burns my ash like a three foot flame we're dumb enough to tolerate this kind of acton from ILLEGAL ALIENS. demanding rights and reforms.

Jtexas, what you said. I know this sounds bigoted, but some of my best friends are mexican, and/or Texican.

Means nothing in this debate. I've found MEX/TEX to be warm, friendly people for the most part, and you have to love the cooking. For the most part they are clean, industrious people. Law abideing, except where entry into this country is concerned... and there is the rub.

Even Hispanic citz. feel it is their right to bring in all of there relatives... no papers, no taxes, and then the babies are US citizens in a welfare state... forever.

I'd love to take in the tired, the hungry, the disaffected of the world, but we can't afford it anymore... just too many.

I think it's about proximity, crunch, only borders we have that you can walk across are Canada and Mexico, and it's too dang cold up north. But it's really not nice to label all hispanics as outlaws. Hey if your inlaws swim the Rio Grande for a visit, does that make 'em outlaws? think about it.

I'm sorry that things in their country are so unfair, but we must protect what is ours. Remember we fought tryanny to become what we are, just as they must do the same. If they can't or won't they don't deserve it, much less get a free ride from America. My forefathers are spinning in their graves, watching our representatives give away what they fought for, and some died for.:'(

whats the sad part is that Mexico allows this to happen when because there getting all that money they bring back into there nation, so they dont try to stop it. Take away MFN and put tade embargo's on them, maybe that will get them to patrol there side of the borders more when there not getting help from out government or not being able to trade with us

Dave, That would only make matters worse, trade embargos?, sanctions?... not the answer.

It's not just the Mexicans coming through that border, it's porous to anyone that wants to come here without documentation... and the same goes for the Canadian border.

There is no need for Mexico or Canada to get tense about us patrolling the borders. Right now if a terrorist wanted to get a Nuke into this country, all they have to do is ship it in a cargo container, walk it across either border, or boat it across the Gulf of Florida... not to mention coming up the West coast, etc.

We really need to start The War On Terror right in our own front and back yards.

There is an old saying... Don't fence me in.... BS in this day and age. Stout fences do make for good neighbors.

Excellent point. I was shocked to see everyone agreeing on this here.

It's not only do the illegals want rights and welfare programs, they don't want to become American citizians.
As stated earlier, they are sending the money back to Mexico. Maybe if they kept that money, they wouldn't need free hospital care or welfare or in-state tuition for college.
I don't live anywhere near the Mexican border, but I see it here as well. The bank now has it's deposit slips in Spanish, then English. WalMart annouces specials in Spanish first, the English.
I want a fence on the border and I want troops there, with weapons and the authority to stop and detain the people coming across illegally. I don't care if Mexico or Canada are offended. This is OUR country and we must do what needs to be done to secure it.

Couldn't agree more Eric.... make it a class C felony to enter this county Illegally with a 5 year term at hard labor, put them to cleaning and repairing roads, harvesting crops (at a modest cost to the farmer), etc. Then send them back where they came from with a warning that the second offence is 10 years..... give them 30 days to get out then move the Army in.

And I'm not talking about just Hispanics... I want to hear "papers please" where ever I go.
