I need a new hull, that is, my 60 horse outboard engine, steering, and electrical are all ok, but the interior, floor, and hull are junk. Is there a manufacturer that markets a 15 ft bowrider with no motor? Basically a hull and interior? I dont even really need the trailer. Where do I go to find something like this?

Good Luck. Since most of the boat manufacturers are owned by a few corporations, they all sell everything as a package, for the most part.

You may have better luck finding a boat with a blown motor, or that had the motor stolen.

Don't know if you will have much luck finding a 15' bowrider these days.

Why do you say the hull is junk?... is there a great big hole in it?

Re: I need a new hull!?!?!?

I have come to the conclusion that the boat is junk for the following reasons: transom is cracked, boat has a slow leak, this in turn causes the boat to flood and thus the floor is now soft. The drivers seat bottom is rotted out. And since I already built the mounts for the seats which had previously rotted out and fixed a whole bunch of other things just to get it into the water, this 1981 silverline catalina is not worth the extra time and effort. The 60 horse mariner starts up ever time and runs strong though, so I would like to mount it on a 15 or 16 ft bowrider. I spoke to a bayliner dealer, I guess they cant sell a boat without an engine. They make a 16ft that comes with a 50 horse, so the 60 would do it justice. I would like to find something late 80s or early 90s that is in good shape but needs a motor. Looks like I'm gonna be searching ebay for the next six months, great.

Go over to the restoration forum (one up from here ) If you liked your boat before it started having all of these problems, fixing them might be your answer, at least when you got done you'd know what you had... not so with a new/used boat... could be worse.

My $2.00 worth (inflation 8)

Nearly every boat manufacturer will sell you a boat with "no pre-rig". Alumacraft is one. I know for a fact thay will as I've done it. I own a 2004 Navigator 165CS. You won't find this on-line. You need to visit a dealer. If the dealer says no -- its because he's lazy and doesn't want to order the boat -- not because its not available.

Re: I need a new hull!?!?!?

how would I know how much to pay for it if all the prices online and in NADA include the price of the motor? How do I know the dealer isnt taking me for a ride?

The dealer has a "no prerig price". Not hard to figure out. It's the boat minus the motor and controls. You still get steering, console, gauges, etc.

A local carolina skiff place near here doesnt have the motors installed on the boats in the showroom. They wait for a customer to choose any brand/size of OB then they install them. A similar dealer closer to you could probably sell you a hull.
