What I do is fog the motor and add sta-bil to fuel tank and run through motor. I change my gear oil in the fall. and leave the motor in the down position. I take out my radio, fish finder and GPS. i also remove my Bimini top and store it indoors. I clean and cover the boat. Here is a good link to winterizing. http://forums.iboats.com/bbBoard.cgi?a=viewthread;fid=17;gtid=48074

As mentioned earlier, Stabilizer in fuel, change gear oil. Also run the engine, either on muffs, tank or in lake long enough to reach operating temp, that way stabilized fuel makes it into the fuel lines and carbs. Then spray fogging oil into carbs until it the smoke is real thick. shut it down and let water drain. remove battery from boat and store it where you can give it a trickle charge once or twice during the 9 months of winter we have. Wash boat. Take wifes car out of garage and put boat inside next to your car. Once inside you can then repack the trailers wheel bearings and inspect trailer.

LMFAO I LIKE THE idea of taking the wife car out of the garage. Heres a question i just did the oil in my Lag and took the boat out once for maybe 4-5 hrs 2hrs skiing and 3 hrs fishing do i still have to change the oil. Like what is the purpose of changing the oil is it incase water is in the oil or just so you know it is clean for next year. Thanks again all.

It mainly is to ensure there is no water in the gearcase. What did the oil look like when you drained it? Clear? Or did it look like coffee with lots of cream in it? It the latter, then you do have water getting in. Since you just changed it, you could take out the drain screw and let a bit run out. If water or coffee/cream comes out then you have leak. If it looks like it did when you put it in you will be fine.

we don't winterize down here, but the cost of the lower lube vs a cracked foot. thats a no brainer.

He guys (and gals), don't forget to hit the grease fittings on the motor. Also some anti-corrosion spray on the block is good for those of us in the salt-fog area. Clean the fuel strainers. If you have a 4-cycle motor, change the engine oil.

The reason I suggest you put the wifes car outside is simple. She now has a reason to shovel the snow off the walk so she can get to her car
