So, not only did this create jobs for U.S. citizens, it raised wages.....
& it will hopefully force WallyWorld to raise wages as well...
Not a word about any punishment for the management at Crider hiring illegals though......
I wish the INS would get on the ball up here in Seattle....
The hiring of illegals has hurt alot of contractors, (myself included), who are constantly outbid by those willing to use illegals:|:|.........
They should start with the Home Depot parking lot on 1st Ave. S.....
You can barely go to a construction site that speaks english!:|

Here In Oregon you can report Illegal activity online, chances are that if the employees are illegal, so is the contractor.

Perhaps they should have stated, "hundreds of new jobs availiable now that illegals are gone"

Americans will do those jobs, but only if wages are raised and we are willing to pay more for our chicken.

Illegals, hired by unscrupulous contractors/employers hurts everyone. Running an honest business gets more difficult every day.

As I've stated, MANY TIMES, I have no issue with people coming here to find a better life. I say Godspeed to them.

HOWEVER, we need to know WHO is here and why. Plus, they need to pay into a system that they draw benefits from.

A so called guest worker program could be practical if was pitched at seasonal work for workers only and not for the baby factories that produce anchor babies. Leave the women and children at home.:devil:

We USED to have that same thing you speak of, back in the sixties and prior.

The Ceaser Chavez laws abolished it. Typical of politicians, they completely misinterpreted Mr. Chavez' intentions. Mr. Chavez' point was for workers to come across the border and work, yet pay into and become a part of the US society. When I say work, I mean a decent wage. Decent wages could not be had by being "illegal". Mr. Chavez was all for "legal", thus being a political entity..

Unfortunately, politicians saw the "workers" as a potential-vote. Thus they ignored the flood of immigrants. As we know, most states had no ID laws, thus their voter base grew.

In would agree that our immigration laws need a complete revamp and we need to seal the borders until we figure it out. Actually anyone can figure it out. But common sense is "illegal" in Washington.:'(

Ain't that the truth!

It would be so easy, and it seems to me a no brainer, just enforce the laws currantly on the books!!! and put stiff MONATARY penalties to employeers that hire undocumented employees, and stiff prison sentances (at hard labor) to "Illegals"... and then vigoriously ENFORCE it... naaaaaa... never happen, that would reguier some guts from the bottom feeders.

I do not disagree. However, government always goes after the "low hanging fruit", that is business. Businesses are EASY to find, illegals are not, unless they look at the Home Depot or 7-Eleven.

So go after the low hanging fruit, and when they knock one off the branch, toss the seeds in jail at hard labor, and Lien the tree.

Most of the laws are already there, we don't need new laws like the Senate and Congress just deadlocked on (LOL, they decided, before adjorning, to erect 700 miles of fence along the border, but didn't fund it) Just enforce what we got... but ENFORCE IT.

I think you see my point. The absurdness of the government is laughable, if it wasn;t so serious.

We have a serious problem, yet, we let it go because:

1. Fall TV schedule.

2. Gas prices are coming down.

3. I got a tax refund last year, thus I didn't pay any-(absolute idiocy).

4. I don't vote because there is noone to vote for.

We deserve EXACTLY what we are getting.

I'm not a "free willy" type a guy, but I have to ask this... what kind of work can an Illegal do that is legal?... now think about that before you answer.

If they are here Illegally they must have forged papers to work or are working "under the table".... both are Illegal.

This is all one huge joke. I did not even bother to read all of the posts above. Aside from the current complicity of GWB in the illegal immigration debacle, who in Heavens name do you think was responsible for the ongoing wave of illegal immigration?

It was the Democrats. They hoped and prayed (well they really don't do that) that the illegals woud add to their adherants. Who is it that are proponents for letting the illegals get drivers licences? Who was it that screamed bloody murder when the illegals were not afforded healthcare at our expens? Who was it that screamed bloody murder when we tried to keep the kids of the illegals out of the school system?

Don't know about the Pot Smokers, but this is the premier Pot growing capital of the States... it is estimated that the unreported income from pot in Oregon equals or exceeds the total of the legal crops grown in the State, and any Illegal caught picking that crop will not have to worry about being deported 8)

Around here we don't grow tomatoes... this is also the Lilly Capital of the World, and all of the Lilly Growers hire Illegal aliens to plant, cultivate, and harvest the crop... they will not hire anyone that demands minimum wage, matching SS tax, etc.

If the INS ever raided the fields, Smith River, CA. would become a ghost town. As it is, the Lilly growers are all becoming Millionaires at our expense... seems all of the Illegals have families and whelp a new US citizen each year.

Am I bitter about this? Maybe so, but the kids growing up around here are moving out as soon as they can, and I am too, because this too will become a ghost town.. And it’s the County Seat.
