How can this idiot remain? Just ignore our resolutions, heck it will only upset people interested in freedom.

If Ahmadinejad's claim holds true, it would run afoul of the U.N. charter, which makes clear that the secretary-general reports to the Security Council. And according to Annan's Web site, his duties include upholding the "values and moral authority of the United Nations."

THE UN HAS NO MORALS OR AUTHORITY.

That's funny!!! And would be nice if it were upheld, but that will never happen. Send the UN home with hugo or to iran or even france would be a good place for it.

"We didn't understand and couldn't understand why a resolution was passed in the midst of an examination of a package," Ahmadinejad said. "We think [the Security Council] was probably under pressure by some powers who constantly want to place pressure on countries. The secretary-general told me to disregard what has happened for the time being, resort to diplomacy."

Can you say "stall" tactics?

There is no way any county, if put under the pressure Iran has been, would stall the way they have if they were dealing from the top of the deck.

They want a "dirty nuke" or a real one....and they have been working furiously on a long range delivery system.

As far as the UN goes... what’s the point? It was ok in the 40's and 50's, but it has no real world power as it is structured today, unless you can get all 5 veto members to agree on anything, anytime, anywhere, the time of day, what day it is, the meaning of the term “day”, define day, etc.

Kofi is caught in the middle, what ever his personal beliefs are, he is screwed.

Re: Kofi Crimminal.

I think before we get all hot n bothered by Chavez's (and others) name calling antics, we ought to try and refrain from it ourselves.

The UN has never claimed to be, nor does it desire to be, The enforcement arm of US Foreign Policy.

If the UN sent out a military force to enforce every UN resolution, they would be one busy force, and make many of our friends, as well as enemies, not very happy.

It has never been designed to solve all the world's problems. It is there for a forum where dialog can begin among disparate nations with disparate goals and values.

It is not perfect, to be sure. It serves a purpose, however limited that purpose may be.

Telling a member State to ignore a Security Council resolution is a breach of his duties and rank insubordination as the office reports to the Security Council. It has nothing to do with Chavez or US Foreign policy.

There is only one country in the would that I fear and that is Iran.

All the others are just blowhards and blackmailers.

Many in Irans government wish to see all infidels die and dont care if they die too.

That is what scares me.

If the UN can not enforce it's resoutions, why have them? And what purpose does it serve?
