My engine is a 1993 Johnson 50 horse with jet. My problem is the engine appears to start okay, and at trolling speed up to about 4,000 RPM runs okay. Once I attempt to pass 4,000RPM and open the throttle, the engine dies down to nothing. I have found that if I move idle enrichening lever from full forward to full rear position, the RPM will increase, boat will pick up speed, but still is not performing properly. If I bring back to full forward position, same problem. Also I have found if I depress the ignition key, the engine will take off and run normal for a few seconds and then die. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Or your fuel pump is tired and can't keep the carb bowls full at high rpm's

both carbs were rebuilt a short time ago, at that time both were real clean, it would be odd that both carbs failed at the same time.
